Star Talk: ‘I don’t want to react to gossip’

Actor Nisha Kothari is currently shooting for the climax of Ram Gopal Varma’s remake of Sholay.

Incidentally, speculations are rife about her being the alleged cause of actor Mohit Ahlawat’s (initially slated to play Jai) abrupt exit from this film.

“Its strange that people want to know what is the jadoo that has made Ramu sir (RGV) cast me as Ghungroo (a take off on Hema Malini’s Basanti in the orginal) despite Mohit feeling that I was the wrong choice. They feel that this in turn led to Mohit having to quit the film,” she fumes.

She continues, “Honestly, I am unaware of any discussion between Mohit and Ramu sir regarding my casting. As long as the director is happy with my work I don’t want to react to idle gossip.”

Nisha (whose real name is Priyanka) concludes, “I do not want to fan the flames of a personal issue between the actor and the director.” However, RGV was unavailable for comment despite repeated attempts.

Screen Talk: Sushmita Sen says she would love to marry

Bollywood actress Sushmita Sen says she believes in fate and is confident she eventually will find the right man to marry.

``I have always craved for marriage,'' Tuesday's Hindustan Times newspaper quoted her as saying. ``I've always been a home-lover despite living a very public life.''

The 31-year-old beauty queen-turned-actress adopted a baby girl in 2000, unusual for an unmarried Indian woman.

``I believe all relationships you go through in life are actually a part of that cosmic design where love and marriage finally finds you,'' she said. ``I believe that will happen to me as well.''

Sen has acted in nearly 30 Hindi-language movies since she was crowned Miss India in 1994 and went on to win the Miss Universe pageant the same year.

Snippet: Nayantara's 'Responsible' Commitments In 2007

I’ve been juggling my personal and professional life...But now I have no other commitments besides my work. I’ve also realised that it’s only work which brings me peace. So, 2007 is dedicated to work, work and more work. And even though heroines do not have much scope for performance in our industry, I want to do versatile roles in 2007. Off-beat films are definitely something I want to explore. My only aim in 2007 is to prove that I’m an actress with many capabilities.

Spotted: Who’s the man in waiting?

Abhishek Bachchan was spotted at the arrival lounge of the Mumbai international airport on Saturday night. Dressed in jeans and a white T-shirt, he was apparently waiting for someone to emerge from customs. As Mumbai is, no one seemed to care that a star, that too a superstar’s son, was in their midst. But one thing that didn’t go unnoticed — the dainty feminine designer fur jacket he was holding in his hand!

Snippet: Rakhi producers rope in Mahesh Babu!

After NTR, the producers of Rakhi, DR K L Narayana and S Gopal Reddy, have chosen Mahesh Babu to play the lead in their forthcoming film Mirchi. And apparently, they want to introduce Jasti Hemamabara Rao as the director. "We want to make good films with topnotch actors . Rakhi was a blockbuster and we are hoping that this would be a hit too," says producer Reddy.

Impression: Indian Media Vs American Media in Saddam's Issue

Saddam Hussain was projected as hero by Indian media while American channels shown him as the one who deserves the punishment. It turned so evident that Indians felt sorry for Saddam's execution as the Indians in America felt that he deserves it. The only reason for this difference is the indoctrination of media.

"While Indian media is calculative in its approach in projecting Saddam Hussain as hero American channels didn't spare him at all. Indian media is concerned for communal harmony as it is secular in approach", opined an NRI.

That sounds logical and obvious. Some of the Indians are saying that if Saddam is hanged even Bush deserves the same.

"Saddam killed thousands of innocent people in Iraq. But Bush killed lakhs of Iraqis by waging war. Shouldn't he deserve a hanging?" questioned a professor.

In fact, cruelty depends on the eye of beholder. Killing in the name of dictatorship is different from that of killing in war, say some.

Coming to law and order after the news of Saddam's execution broke down, there were many concerns.

"We doubted if there would be any mishap or violence followed by Saddam's execution. Even the New Year day added tension to our groups as well. But everything went on well and smooth with the cooperation from people", said a Sub Inspector of Police.

To sum up, either good or bad or not welcomed, the end of 2006 has shown how media can influence the thoughts of people.

Snippet: Chairs Broken For Mahima Choudary!

Mahima Choudary's program shook the audiences on the eve of New Year at Country Club International, Medchal. Huge number of audiences made their presence in the show where Mahima danced for a few numbers. But the over enthused audiences broke the chairs after getting inebriated with the drowse of alcohol.

Some spectators said that it is common every year with Country Club as there wouldn't be any good control on crowds.

On the other hand, none stepped back to purchase the food items and drinks those were expensive at least for 4 times of the regular prices.

It is said that the Real Estate boom of Hyderabad in 2006 felicitated many of the people to shell out money for various event managements and also participating in the events.
