Suneel, who’s in the lead in Andala Ramudu is known to be a shy guy. “ I have no qualms in sharing that I’m too sensitive and shy. In fact that’s the reason why I have stayed away from gals,” explains Suneel. But his stint with Tollywood is definitely helping him transform, he assures us. “I’ve never been in love. That may sound strange but that’s the truth. But since the time I’ve been a part of the industry, something strange has come upon me. I’m beginning to let go of being shy. I must say the dance sequences and comedy roles are having a sure impact on me,” he adds.

Story

The story begins at a medical college in Vizag, where Ganesh (Vishal) comes as a student to board in its hostel. The daughter of a lady professor (Reema Sen) happens to face an attack by a few riffraffs in the college. Ganesh saves her with his intellectual plan and thus the professor’s daughter starts loving Ganesh.

On the other hand, a gang keeps on searching for Ganesh to end his life. The reasons will be known only at the half way through in a flash back.

Ganesh is a Medical College Student who lives jovial along with his parents. In an unexpected incident Vishal happens to encounter with a lady goon of his place, Eeshwari (Shriya Reddy). She is so cruel that she never hesitates to take out the clothes of women, talk any filthy language or hit anyone in public. While she was showing her cruelty on Reema Sen in an incident by pulling out her sari, Ganesh comes to rescue. He also gives a few punches to the goons brought by Eeshwari. In that wild encounter Eeshwari decides to get married to Ganesh at any cost. But Ganesh never bows down to her stubborn decision. In a furor of anger Eeshwari attempts to kill Ganesh but accidentally she gets killed in a wild current shock. This turns a point of antagonism between Eeshwari’s brothers and Ganesh’s family. To avoid any disturbance from Eeshwari’s brothers, Ganesh’s uncle (Bhanu Chander), who was a Police Cop shifts Ganesh to a college in Vizag.

Rest of the story is how Ganesh encounters the perils from Eeshwari’s brothers.
Performances

Vishal is firmly good in fights and general histrionics. He can be on top if develops grip over dances. His body language is perfectly in tune with the characterization in the film.

Reema Sen performed to her level best. There is much to talk about Shriya Reddy who marveled in her role as a stubborn psycho. She perfectly matched with the body language of a rural Tamil goon. She scores high marks in the film along with Vishal.

Others have justified their roles by adequate performances.

Background score is good but music in songs is normal. Music in songs would have been better to turn the heads of masses in a better way. Story line is just okay and the dialogues would have been still gripping and strong. Vulgarity in dialogues can be observed here and there.

The scene has an extension of vulgarity as well.

Tarun Gopi’s direction is sensible and okay. He did big work to sustain the tempo of the film till the end.
Analysis

Gripping scenes but average story line, tight fight sequences but average dialogues, hysterical background score but normal music in songs makes the film ‘Pogaru’. After the success of ‘Pandem Kodi’, Vishal again turns the heads of masses with this film.

Comedy is not so hilarious in the film except a few dialogues of Vadi Velu. Dubbing writer Sashank Vennelakanti would have done something better. But as the film is a dubbed version, constraints would be many.

First half of the film is mysterious with a few fights and general stuff while real tempo begins in second half. The entry of Shriya Reddy makes the screen violent and hysterical. The film is perfectly targeted on mass audiences and the purpose can be served to desired extent.

Bottom Line: The films runs better in B and C centers than in A.

Trade Talk: Suffering 'Two' and Sailing 'Two'

The film 'Stalin' was released with greater hype but slowly the collection rate is decreasing. The film was released by targeting the success of 'Pokiri'. Hence huge number f prints were released on the first day itself. The first week collection was Rs.17 crore and second week it was Rs.7 crore. So, there is drastic downfall of Rs.10 crore in second week.

The third week collections are still less as per trade pundits. The film is not going houseful for morning show and matinee (leaving Saturday and Sunday) in main theaters as well.

Coming to 'Boss' the situation is still worse. Nagarjuna, who hasn't seen big flop in recent times, tasted bitterness with this.

'Bommarillu' is still running strong despite crossing 60 days.

The collections of 'Andala Ramudu' turned weak now, after 50 days.

Vishal Interview: 'Pogaru Depicts Clash Of Egos'

Just a few minutes back, Vishal, the main lead in ‘Poguru’ shared his views to SiraSri of greatandhra.com. He was busy at dubbing theatre in Chennai and flying to Hyderabad tomorrow morning to watch the film ‘Pogaru’. He can be seen at Devi, Hyderabad tomorrow. Well, he shared the following in a brief telephonic talk.

Pogaru:
The film is a dubbing version of ‘Thimiru’, which means aggressive attitude. It deals with the clash of egos of all the characters on screen. It deals with emotions and aggressiveness among Reema Sen, Shriya Reddy and I. Shriya Reddy did a fantastic job and the film revolves mainly around her. She would recall the role of Neelambari of Ramya Krishna in Rajni Kanth’s ‘Narasimha’.

Pandemkodi Vs Pogaru:
Success of ‘Pandemkodi’ boosted up expectations on me. Indeed the original Tamil version ‘Sandai Kozhi’ was a sensational hit in Tamilnadu and I feel that the new film ‘Thimiru’ gets tuned to the expectations. Similarly, I feel that the same would be repeated in AP as well with ‘Pogaru’ by meeting the expectations of masses and families. The film has all the elements that a commercial entertainer should have.

Direct Telugu Film in 2007:
My direct Telugu film may see light in 2007. I’m just awaiting a very good script to venture on to Telugu screen to meet the taste of Telugu audiences.

Dark Heroes:
I don’t believe that color turns a hindrance to shoot up to top slot. Majority of South Indians look dark. Films show the common happenings with little bit of fiction. So, a common man identifies himself with the person on silver screen. Hence, the boy-next-door look would certainly become an advantage. From Super Star Rajni Kanth to Vijay Kanth to Vijay many successful mass heroes look dark.

Shriya Reddy:
It would be a total treat to watch Shriya Reddy in her role in this film. She is known to people with typical modern dresses in TV. But she is different here with native look. Above all, it is very difficult to do a psyche role and she marveled in it.

Reema Sen:
I definitely agree that she is the best friend of mine. But nothing is running between us as many are writing. If there is any happening of ‘love’ in my life, I would certainly feel proud to announce it before media. Because, I feel that there is nothing to hide one’s own life partner without letting it known to the world.

'Tata Birla Madhyalo Laila' is a full time comedy entertainer of two petty thieves Tata (Sivaji) and Birla (Krishna Bhagwan). They plan to kidnap Mahalaxmi (Laya), foster daughter of Gajapati (Tanikella Bharani), who is a big realtor. They manage to get some employment in Gajapati’s house and Tata falls for Mahalaxmi, who is kind-hearted and loves her father very much. Gajapati, in greed of wealth, which will be inherited by Mahalaxmi once she turns major, asks Tata and Birla to kill her. Tata and Birla, decides to save her from Gajapati. Meanwhile Rathnam (Jeeva), a rival of Gajapati, who plans to kill Mahalaxmi, appoints Masthan (Ali). Masthan joins Gajapati’s family in woman’s attire as ‘Laila’. In the end, Tata and Birla save Mahalaxmi and Gajapati realizes Mahalaxmi’s love as her father. The movie has got good melody tracks “Poovai pona cheliya” and “Seethakoka chillukallaga”. Overall, this movie can be summed as a musical comedy entertainer and lives to its tagline “Saradaga navvukundam randi”.

Nostalgia: SV Ranga Rao Died With Bottle In His Fist

SVR has been the king among actors in the hearts of millions of Telugu and Tamil film lovers.

But his personal life was a tragedy. He was henpecked. Wife drove him to drinking. In the final stages he died in a bathroom while drinking. He was found dead with a bottle in his hand and the same bottle could not be removed from his fist.

He was notorious on sets. Bapu, Ramana were scared to offer him role. He was off drinks for some time.

But he resumed drinking towards the end of shooting. In the film 'Sampoorna Ramayana', the scene of Ravana taking away Sita was taken when he was full drunk. He was often falling on the ground while shooting this scene.

He used to come late to sets and if producer objects, he used to say – 'get lost'. That is how Gummadi got more roles than him.

Vinayak: The screenplay of 'Yogi' will captivate audiences

Hyderabad, Oct 12 (ANS) After the hugely successful "Laxmi", Telugu director V.V. Vinayak is coming up with another thriller. "Yogi" is about a mother-son relationship and Vinayak is confident that it will "captivate the audience".

The film, starring action star Prabhas and Nayantara in the lead roles, is a remake of the Kannada film "Jogi".

"I was excited when I saw the original Kannada version - 'Jogi' - and worked for eight months on the script to deliver a sure-fire winner. Though 'Yogi' is a remake, I took only its core and then designed my screenplay to suit the tastes of the Telugu audience," Vinayak told IANS.

After "Yogi", the director is planning a film with Nagarjuna.

"I am unable to reveal any details about my next film with Nagarjuna because we are in the process of finalising the script. I want to come up with an exciting script to get his acceptance."

Vinayak catapulted into the big league with a series of hits like "Aadi", "Dill", "Tagore" and "Bunny".

Excerpts from the interview:

Q: How would you describe your next film "Yogi"?

A: This is one of the films I have enjoyed making for its unique narration. We have seen many films revolving round mother-son relations, but our screenplay will captivate the audience. I was excited when I saw the original Kannada version, "Jogi", and worked for eight months on the script to deliver a sure-fire winner.

Q: How was it doing a remake again after "Tagore"? Do you consider remakes as safe bets?

A: Though "Yogi" is a remake, I took only its core and designed my screenplay to suit the tastes of the Telugu audience. I even refused to start another film simultaneously because I wanted to concentrate on this project since we rarely come across such exciting subjects.

Though "Tagore" was a remake, the audience appreciated my work and I was thrilled when Chiranjeevi included "Tagore" in the 10 top films of his career.

Q: You have mostly worked with big stars. How was it working with Prabhas?

A: I was fortunate to work with the top stars of Telugu cinema and I enjoyed working with them. Probably I was able to exploit their respective images to taste big success, touchwood.

Coming to Prabhas, I can say without exaggeration that this is one of the best roles of his career. It's a tailor-made role for him. Basically, he is a director's actor.

Q: When are your next films with Nagarjuna and other big stars coming out?

A: I am unable to reveal any details about my next film with Nagarjuna because we are in the process of finalising the script. I want to come up with an exciting script to get his acceptance, and the rest will follow.

My script for NTR Junior is almost ready, while the subject for Mahesh has reached the final stages. Similarly, I want to work with Chiranjeevi, Balakrishna and Venkatesh again. Even the producers are ready but I need to discover good plots to suit their larger-than-life images before approaching them. Until then I would be busy giving finishing touches to "Yogi".

Q: Do you intend to go into politics?

A: I have no interest in politics. I have only canvassed for my father in a panchayat election.

Reel Talk: Aish and Abhishek in Telugu on Janapriya Films

Abhishek Bachchan and Aishwarya Rai starred 'Guru' is about to complete it's shooting and RR part shortly. Mani Rathnam is directing the film in which Vidya Balan and Madhavan are also playing lead roles. The dubbing rights of the film were bagged by Janapriya Films and the same was declared by its Chairman KVR Prasad.

AR Rehman scored music for the film and its audio is going to be released in the second week of November. The film is set to release in December 2nd week. The Hindi version of this film is also going to be released by Janapriya Films in AP.

Sameer Chandani worked on Art for this film while Sreekar Prasad edited, Saroj Khan choreographed, Vikarm Dharma composed fights and Rajiv Menon was behind camera.

Story-Screenplay and Direction was dealt by Mani Rathnam.

Making Children films has become big business in AP now. There have been many aspirants in this scenario as FDC is sponsoring the making.

If a script gets okayed and ready to go to sets, after the approval of FDC, the producer will be given good sum where he can blindly save about Rs.15 lakh on rational basis after making the film. This is alluring many and out of some 500 applications only 7 got short listed recently as per inside reports.

Well, in general, producers step back in the matter of renowned casting as big sum would go for them. But these days, there are a few producers who are hiring the artistes like Nagababu. While Nagababu acted in 'Maa Sirimalli' recently, the reliable sources say that Rajendra Prasad acted in 'Sisindri Babai'.

Well, as the schedules are not so busy, Rajendra Prasad is saying 'yes' even for Children's films.

Film Buzz: It's Not The Remake Of 'Dil Chahtha Hai'

The remake fever is now hitting the film 'Dil Chahtha Hai' as well. After the news about the remakes of 'Sholay', 'Umra Jaan' and 'Don' now, news was out that it's time to talk about the not-so-old film 'Dil Chahtha Hai'. It also stated that the maker by name Rohit is
making this new venture.

"Agreed, my next film is about female bonding and the plot revolves around three girls, but it's not a remake of Dil Chahtha Hai. Every two-hero film shouldn't be mistaken as Sholay or a two-guy-one-girl love story can't be a Saagar," Rohit enlightens and says that he is taking inspiration from DCH.

"DCH is a masterpiece, why should I meddle with it? My film looks at the bond between three girls, the catfights, the sensitive moments, the ups and downs in a relationship. I am trying to understand women through my film," he added.

Sushmita Sen, Lara Dutta and Priyanka Chopra are the 3 girls in the film. . other casting is yet to be revealed.

Roopesh Gohil, a Mumbai-based entrepreneur, is producing the film and its going to hit the floors in Feb2007.

Gossip: Vamp Loves Comedians Only!

The small time heroine, who is known for her vamp roles, spends her time mostly with Comedian, Ali. She had a couple of chances as heroine so far. One such chance came with a comedy film! By her virtue, (if not vice,) she is highly meddlesome with men. She loves humor. She laughs at the slightest hint of a joke. Ali also finds her company enjoying, and always keeps her along with him. Though she is married, her hubby does not come on her way. He has good faith in Ali too.

Film News: 'Andhrudu' Gopichand Goes Bollywood

From many years, Telugu films have been getting dubbed into Hindi. But they are being released in B, C centers of Bollywood regions. Balakrishna's 'Allari Pidugu' was dubbed as 'Vijay Path', Pawan Kalyan's 'Balu' is getting dubbed as 'Aaj Ka Gundaraj abcdefg' and Nagarjuna's 'Annamayya' was dubbed as 'Tirupathi Sree Balaji'.

Now, freshly, Gopi Chand starred 'Andhrudu' is getting dubbed into Hindi. The film has Bihar backdrop in it and hence attracted the Hindi producers. The film is hitting the Hindi screen for this Diwali.

We have to wait and see if this fairs well at box-office unlike other dubbed versions.
