Andhra Talk: What Rajamouli and JD Chakravarthy

Hundreds of aspirants who strive to get into Film Industry can be seen in Krishna Nagar area of Hyderabad. And there are others who sit at their own places in different parts of the state, dreaming to get into films all the while. But they hardly get opportunities and many retreat back. And still, many keep trying their luck running around film producers and directors.

In a recent TV show, a lady aspirant, who is willing to get into films, questioned SS Rajamouli (one of the judges in the show. The other was Rajiv Kanakala), "Why film people keep on testing my patience asking to meet again and again. Why a chance to act cannot be given for strugglers like me?"

Then SS Rajamouli said, "There is no short cut and one needs to keep on trying all the time to fulfill dreams. Even Rajiv Kanakala tried for about 7 years to get break in Film Industry, despite being the son of popular director Devadasu Kanakala. So, it is obvious to struggle".

This certainly sounds to be reasonable answer.

Long ago JD Chakravarthy was asked by an aspirant, "Sir! Could you please introduce me to Ram Gopal Varma as I can join as Assistant Director at him?"

Then JD answered, "Why should I? I don't know who you are and what your talent is. How can I introduce you to Varma? All that you can do is to direct a stage drama and play that in any big auditorium. Show your talent and let Press write in News Papers about you. Then, Varma himself gives a call to you offering a place at him". Saying this JD rushed away in his car.

The face of the aspirant turned down with this answer.

The above incident took place when JD was invited as a guest on the occasion of World's Theatre Day about three years ago.

The ins and outs of film industry are very scornful to feel, although it appears to be a cake walk in the dreams of aspirants. Unfulfilled dreams, stern desires, lack of recognition and running away time are making many aspirants cry, weep and yell all the time.

It's not mere talent that needs to get into films. It requires a lot more. And that 'more' differs from person to person and that can be understood only after getting vexed up trying hard and hard.
