Reel Buzz: Salman Khan’s crazy about bikes

Although most stars prefer to travel in cars with dark-tinted glasses, Salman Khan prefers to have his thrills. His favourite mode of travelling seems to be his mobike, a bright red 1300 cc machine, with a number plate that reads 9000. In fact, he arrived at the music launch of Apna Sapna Money Money on his mean machine, with his convoy following. Before that too, he had come to the press conference of Lucky–No Time To Love on a bike.

Sources reveal that Salman’s craze for bikes is not new. “Salman has been obsessed with bikes since his college days. He owns three bikes of different makes and loves driving them along Carter Road in Mumbai. He even goes all the way to his farmhouse near Karjat on his bike. Sometimes, he takes his sister ARPITA for a ride, sometimes his girlfriend KATRINA, and they go and have coffee. When WILL SMITH was in town, he took Smith for a ride too,” says our source.

Doesn’t Salman fear being recognised and mobbed? “Yes, people recognise him, of course. But before they can even say ‘Salman’, he usually zooms off, so there’s no danger of being mobbed,” replies our source. “And sometimes he wears a bandana, so it becomes that much more difficult to tell who he is.”

Although Salman rides at top speed, he seldom wears a helmet. Isn’t the family concerned? “Not really. Salman is a very safe driver. Except for that one accident with the car, he has not had any other road mishap,” says his friend.

However, there’s one provision Salman seems to make before going on a bike ride – his convoy must go along with him. Our source adds, “Salman takes his people along with him, in case anything goes wrong. They usually follow in a car, close on his heels, or on a bike alongside (if they can keep up).”
